Band and Lessons Programs

With Ms. Valerie Villa-Kelly, a music education major from SUNY Fredonia with over 20 years of teaching experience, our programs are affordable and cater to your needs!

How do our programs work?

  • Weekly 40-minute group or individual lessons on woodwind, brasswind, & percussion instruments.

  • Two 45-minute band rehearsals per week

  • Two 45-minute concerts per academic year

  • All-County and NYSSMA solo and ensemble competitions (optional)

The school or organization does not absorb any costs for these programs. Families are charged monthly on an individual basis using a secure online billing system. The school or organization is only responsible for providing a designated lesson and ensemble rehearsal space.

“Ms. Valerie and Encore Experience are amazing!  Our 3 girls have been with Valerie for 13 years - through piano, instruments, voice, and musicals.  She's excellent with all ages, and understands each child's unique musical gifts and needs.  As homeschoolers, we worried about how to give our girls a musical education, and Encore Experience has filled that role perfectly!  We're so grateful.”

    Dream It

Starting in September, an Instrument Fair is held for students to try the instruments to see what suits them the best. After selecting their top three choices, the band director works with this information to create a balanced ensemble. Students then choose if they prefer an individual or small group weekly lesson.

    Build It

In October, weekly lessons and band rehearsals begin. The school or organization will choose whether these will occur during the course of the school day on a rotating basis or after school. Families will receive a monthly invoice for instructional costs, as well as any additional materials such as instrument rentals or books and solo music for competitions.

Concerts are typically held during the months of December and May. Both solo festivals and ensemble festivals occur in the spring (optional). For students who wish to continue throughout the summer, lessons and band camps are offered outside of the school or organization with students from throughout Western New York.
